^When Menion is taken to Culhaven, Balinor debriefs Hendel on his mission in the Southland.
^BALINOR: "What's your report on Sterne and Wayford?"
^HENDEL: "HA! The officials of those two fine communities will consider the matter and send
^along a report. But I could tell that after five minues I opened my mouth they thought I was
^crazy. They don't see the danger until the sword is at their own throats. Thats not the real
^probelm as you know. They don't feel they should be involved. After all, the frontiers are
^protected by Dwarfs, not to mention the cities of Callahorn and the Border Legion. We've been
^doing it all up until now, so why should that change!"
^SHEA: "What? I don't understand what just happened?"
^BALINOR: "Well, we may be standing on the brink of the greatest war in a thousand years, but
^no one wants to accept the fact. They'd rather let the people at the gates take care of everything
^while they can forget about the whole matter. But there comes a time when the defenders are so
^few and the enemy is so great..."
^FLICK: "Is there really going to be a war?"
^BALINOR: "That is the question! The only one who can give us the answer is absent,
^overdue... You may go back to the gardens and I'll send word when Menion's condition has
^improved."

^Menion Leah eventually recovered and Shea told him everything he learned. A day or so later,
^Allanon came and called a meeting in the town hall.
^ALLANON: "My friends, we have suffered a tragic loss. Paranor has fallen. A division of
^Gnome Hunters under the command of the Warlock Lord have seized the Sword of Shannara!"
^The Dwarfs began shouting in anger demanding for vegence and Balinor tries to calm them.
^ALLANON: "What must we do now? That is the reason for me calling this council. The Sword
^is useless in Brona's hands, but not in Shea's. We must recover the Sword at all costs. A small
^party of us will be formed and we will go to Paranor to rescue the Sword. These two Elves with
^me are cousins of the great Elven King, Eventine Elessidel, and will accompany me on behalf of
^the Elven nation. I will take one Dwarf chieftan, and Balinor. The question now faces you Shea,
^will you come with us?"
^Before Shea can answer, Menion heats up a confrontation with Allanon, to the shock of
^everyone in the room. Shea doesn't let things go out of hand, so he answers.
^SHEA: "I, Flick and Menion will go with you."

^After the meeting, Menion Leah lets out a sigh of relief. He had delibertly provoked Shea to
^come to his rescue by agreeing to go to Paranor. He had been lucky, and hoped that luck would
^be with them all the way. Meanwhile, Flick and Shea ask Balinor about his understandings on
^the situation, the Sword of Shannara, and about Allanon.
^BALINOR: "From what it seems, the Southland faces a massive invasion by the Warlock Lord
^who commands nearly the entire Gnome and Troll races. Here at Culhaven there is immediate
^danger. The Gnomes and Dwarfs have never been on good terms and it looks like they will be at
^war again shortly. I really do not know anything about the Sword beyond what Allanon has told
^you. I would doubt it has any real power but I trust Allanon. But quite frankly, I know as much
^about Allanon as I do about the Sword. He travels a great deal, exploring the country, recording
^in his notes the changes of the land and people, and is well known to all the nations. It is
^rumored by Dwarfs and Elders of my own kingdom that he is a Druid, a descendant of Bremen
^or prehaps even the founder, Galaphile. Although I have not seen it, I bet Allanon's power is
^beyond anything we've ever seen!"
^After this conversation, Allanon gathers the party and Hendel volunteers to go with them. Hendel
^is a famous Dwarven warrior who is hated among all Gnomes for his reputation as the greatest
^Gnome slayer.
^ALLANON: "Lets move out. We must stick to the mountains because the Rabb plains are
^guarded closes. We'll exit through the Pass of Jade."

^legend. We always assumed that the threat from the Warlock Lord was gone after the Second
^War of the Races so the Sword became more of a symbol of protection than a weapon.
^DURIN: "No one really concerned himself when the heirs of Shannara died off. Eventine's
^family, our family, became rulers almost a hundred years ago. The Sword remained at Paranor,
^all but forgetten until now."

^To get out of the Pass of Jade, one must pass through the Gnomish Taboo land, which is
^currently being used for a massive ritual. The Seekers find themselves trapped, but they have
^come up with a plan to escape, for which Hendel volunteered. While the others hide in the
^brush, Menion fires an arrow straight into the heart of a Gnome Chieftan and then quickly joined
^them. The Gnomes looked for the man who did this and Hendel yells at them from atop a
^mountain. They instantly recognize the one who has killed so many of their kin, and they eagerly
^begin chase. This allows the rest of the Seekers to slip on through, while Hendel "distracts" the
^Gnomish hordes.

^ALLANON: "I detected that creature's presence (referring to the Arachnoid) and set my trial
^the other way. It must have changed it to deceive you."
^They then follow the Gnomes and Flick asks where they are going.
^ALLANON: "We are approaching the land of the Stors, these Gnomes that came with me.
^They are healers, seperate from the rest of the Gnome nations and all other races, dedicated to
^helping those in need of sanctuary or medical aid. They govern themselves, live apart from the
^petty bickerings of other nations- something most men could never manage to do. Everyone in
^this part of the world respects and honors them. Their land is Storlock and we must hurry to get
^Shea there.

^BALINOR: "I am certain that he has only told us part of the tale. But he is the only one who
^realized the threat to the Four Lands in the first place. We owe him a great deal, and the very
^least of that is a little trust."

^Northern part will be guarded, and in the South the mountains are too high to be scaled. So our
^only option is to pass through the Hall of Kings..."

^Menion Leah had no idea what it was about the caverns that could make a man like Balinor
^have second thoughts, but it must be a good reason. Menion was through questioning legends
^since his encounters in the Mist Marsh and the Wolfstaag. What concerned him now was what
^powers the man who proposed to lead them through the caves of the Dragon's Teeth might
^posses that could protect them from spirits.
^ALLANON: "The whole journey has been a calculated risk. We knew that when we began and
^are you willing to turn back now?"
^BALINOR: "We will follow you. The risk will be worth it if we can get the Sword..."
